Culture, art and steel city on the Danube

The capital of Upper Austria, located directly on the beautiful blue Danube, is also the third largest city in Austria. Originally perceived as a "steel city", Linz has developed into an important centre for cultural events in recent years. In addition to the famous Linzer Klangwolke, the Brucknerfest or the Prix Ars Electronica, Linz also makes a name for itself with the Pflasterspektakel, the annual film festival "Crossing Europe" or the Bubble Days in the Linz harbour.

Linz is also an important international congress and conference venue - favoured by the location of large companies such as Voestalpine AG.

Voestalpine Stahlwelt: In the adventure world for the whole family you can get to know the material steel at close quarters and in a multimedia way. Interesting facts about steel production, its significance and numerous interactive stations make this excursion something special!

Linz Zoo: Enjoy a fabulous view of the city of Linz. Halfway up the Pöstlingberg is the Linz Zoo with around 600 exotic and native animals. Stay on the almost 4 ha large area and marvel at meerkats, zebras, red pandas, antelopes, kangaroos, parrots and many other animals.

Pöstlingberg - Dwarf Kingdom: Take the nostalgic Pöstlingbergbahn up Linz's local mountain and visit the dwarves. On a round trip with the Grotto Railway not only your children will make big eyes. Watch the industrious dwarves at work and then immerse yourself in the fairytale world. The beautiful park with deer enclosures invites you to take a walk.

10 years Capital of Culture Linz and since 2014 UNESCO City of Media Arts No other city has made such a spectacular transformation from steel city to city of culture in recent years. Countless cultural offerings await you - Ars Electronica Center, Brucknerhaus, music theater, the biennial theater festival "SCHÄXPIR" or the Linz Pflasterspektakel.

Museum of the Future - Ars Electronica Center: The Ars Electronica Center continues to inspire a broad public with enthusiasm for the future. The Center reopened in May 2019 and is attracting great interest with its focus on "artificial intelligence. Nowhere else can one get an idea of how this technology influences and will continue to influence our daily lives.

Lentos Kunstmuseum: The Lentos Kunstmuseum houses an extensive international collection from the fields of painting, sculpture, photography and object art, making it one of the most important museums for modern art in Austria.

Linzer Klangwolke: The figurehead of the Linz cultural scene is certainly the Linzer Klangwolke. Since 1979, this open-air music festival has been held in early September in Donaupark. A total of three open-air concerts are offered (visualized and classical Klangwolke as well as Kinderklangwolke), some of which are supplemented by visualizations or pyrotechnics.

Danube Tour: Discover the Danube and the region around Linz by boat! No matter if you make a day trip, discover the Linz harbour with its open-air gallery "Mural Harbor", where you can marvel at 300 partly oversized graffiti, or if you want to go to the next city by scheduled boat.
